An Ode To Polynesia
After a thrilling journey on the Road to Hana, driving a Polaris Slingshot through the rain, there were fewer, greater rewards than dining at the eponymous Mama’s Fish House. Born from a sailing adventure exploring Old Poynsia, Doris and Floyd Christenson one day settled and decided to open their dream restaurant, and what a legacy they created. A passionate love affair to forgotten foods and fish delicately cooked.
And let me confirm immediately - during our ten day trip across Maui, Kauai and Big Island this was without question the tippy top of the many outstanding meals that we ate there.
The Curry (and this from an Englishman) ranks easily in my top 3 ever tasted, creamy, spicy, rich and warming from first bite to last. Add to that an atmosphere of forgotten old wold charm, impeccable service and an atmosphere of friendship and happiness - you really can’t beat this place.
Beg, borrow or steal a reservation for what will be a meal you’ll never forget..
