The Myth Of Strong Wind

The Myth Of Strong Wind

Think of your perfect mountain hotel, and we are fortunate to have a few to compare to, and it would pretty much describe the  St Regis Hotel in Aspen.

Set in achingly beautiful Aspen, it’s the premier place to enjoy what is, an enjoyable town.  Its’ history is rich. Back in 1934, at the legendary King Cole bar in New York, bartender Fernand Petiot perfected his recipe for a vodka and the tomatoe juice cocktail called The Bloody Mary.  And now remains the signature cocktail of the St Regis brand.

The Hotel bar this remains the epicenter of all that is good about this place - expertly crafted Manhattens by mustacheod mixologists - coupled with the strains of guitar and the crackling of a large fire.

The only thing that confuses is the tableau depicted behind the bar - perhaps something  of the gentleman about the lead rider!

The final charming aspect is the daily 4.45 Sabrage. It’s a tradition started by John Jacob Astor IV when he opened the first St. Regis in New York in the early 1900s. Each one of the luxury brand's 37 hotels, except for the St. Regis New York, only because it is too crowded, has someone performing the ritual each night.

So swing by. It’s one to make the top ten list of any mountain hotel.
