Peace In The Perfect Chaos
When you read a hotel review by another traveler ask yourself this question. What sort of traveler are you? Then ask one more question. Who wrote the review?
The reason I say this is because if you look at a site such as Trip Advisor, posts by other guests classically fall into two different categories.
And their comments come from the needs that they have.
So let me get to the point. If you want a beautiful, boutique hotel in the heart of the old city of Chiang Mai, staffed by young but ever so keen to help employees, coupled with a peaceful spa feel with liberal checkin and out times and a pool designed for gentle dipping - all may I say at a very reasonable price - then come stay at the U.
If you want a place for kids to splash around on water slides or if you want the cheapest rooms to feel huge. Then don't. It's not a family hotel. It's a couples haven.
The reason I make this point is that we almost bailed and switched to The Meridien because some of the reviews were scathing, mixed in with plenty that approved.
And we're glad we stayed because at the height of Songkraan bedlam this was a place of peace and tranquility.
Rooms were beautiful and 'not tired' as one receiver posted - but we had a private pool room so that may be why.
(Trust me that's a #taketheworld tip to request one of these terrific rooms)
And so my friends that is why you should always go deeper than the initial review to see if that traveler knows what you need, not just theirs.
