A Tomato's Life
The eponymous Roi Choi is ever present in LA - from the food truck empire he started through to several restaurants and guest chef inputs. And each has a twist that makes you understand why he's been such a huge hit.
That and his carefree arttitude and infectious personality.
So as we headed to the Commissary, the self styled 'rooftop greenhouse' we were intrigued to see what side of the great man came to the fore.
The results, I'm pleased to say, are breathtaking.
The hook has been to translate the usual inhabitants of a greenhouse and then transfer them into a plate. With some aplomb.
From tempura cauliflower with soy dipping sauce, through to braised carrots or Kimchini tacos everything hit with a slap of flavors that had us shaking our heads and grinning.

So bravo to the concept king, architects and chefs. A stunning space with street style food to match.
